“I’m as restless as a willow in a windstorm
I’m as jumpy as a puppet on a string
I’d say that I had Spring fever
… But I know it isn’t Spring”
– Oscar Hammerstein II
Our “It series continues with WRIU’s Matt Mania, host of The Trip, Tuesdays 3 – 6 pm.
MATT MANIA
Host of “The Trip”
Q: What are your “Words to Live By”?
☞ Concision
Q: What are your favorite music venues (both indoor & outdoor)?
☞ The Mist for music and location; The Pumphouse for music and decor; Askew – Seen some cool bands there.
The Pump House: “Engaging weekly activities such as the Monday Ukulele Jam, Tuesday Old Time Jam, and Wednesday Open Mic Lounge”
Q: When did you start listening to WRIU?
☞ I can remember Peter Dante on the radio back in the late 80’s, probably.
Q: What are your 12 “Desert Island” albums?
☞ Impossible question. There’s just too many. Without the electricity needed to play them, I would probably use all 12 to start a signal fire – giving new meaning to “the life-affirming power of music.”

Q: What is your favorite team?
☞ The B’s and the C’s.
Q: What is your favorite movie scene?
The 21 scene from Sweet Smell of Success (1957)
“I Was There When it Happened …”
What are your 5 most memorable concerts?
“What the #&@$ …”
One memorable show was Van Morrison, Shrine Auditorium in December ’93. After intermission some guy named Brian Kennedy took over the vocals for the rest of the show while Van watched from the side of the stage.
Later, in the men’s room, I heard a drunk Pierce Brosnan yell, “What the #&@$ was that @&#%e!!”
Q: What is your favorite ephemera in the WRIU studio?
☞ By definition, very little of what’s in there could be called ephemera. Seems like most of that stuff has been laying around forever.
